For more than 80 years, Brightwater Health (formerly Human Development Center, HDC) has been leading the way in bringing cutting-edge mental health and addiction services to the Northland. With more than 28 mental programs across the Minnesota counties of St. Louis, Cook, and Carlton, and Douglas County, Wisconsin, we are proud to be the largest mental health and recovery services provider in our community.
We offer psychotherapy in individual, family, and group settings. Some issues addressed by psychotherapists include trauma, depression, anxiety, bipolar, ADHD, grief, life stress, family and marital issues, pain management, eating disorders, and anger management.
Services are offered in person or via ITV.

As part of our commitment to community education across the northland, Brightwater provides a free mental health screening tool that’s 100% online and completely free for anyone to use.

What does this mean?
The CCBHC model improves mental health and substance abuse treatment services by crating more comprehensive and expansive service delivery while removing barriers to access. CCBHC ensures rapid and unobstructed access to care for all people regardless of ability to pay or personal circumstances. Through this coordinated process, Brightwater clients can expect the highest quality of care.
A free Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS) program that allows individuals who are deaf, deafblind, hard of hearing, or speech disabled to place and receive telephone calls.
